Concert Band (2nd period)

The Concert Band is the third performing concert ensemble at SHS. This ensemble is comprised of students in all grades and varied ability levels. The primary goal of this class include expanding and perfecting all fundamental techniques of ensemble performance and individual playing as well as allowing the students to gain greater confidence by playing music with multiple parts. This ensemble performs at the Sub-Nonvarsity level in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation. Students in this ensemble will be required to participate in sectionals and/or rehearsals (outside the school day), concerts, and contests. Members will learn parts of the All-State audition music to allow opportunity for individual musical growth. Ensemble members are highly encouraged to participate in solo and ensemble contest and the All-State audition process.
